Marvelous! To me it's a different case when I was in Busan. You see, there are enough bad seeds from a number of China tourists who went to Korea and set a very bad standard for Chinese. With my regular Asian face, whom doesn't speak in Korean, I'm just another demanding Chinese tourist who doesn't eat Kimchi 😂 Not many friends I made during my stay.
Well, I'm from Toronto, Canada, so after having lived all my life surrounded by such diversity of people it's also hard for me to establish relationships here in Korea where people are not as used to multiculturalism as I am. I say give it time and things should balance out...hopefully XD
Objection your highness. Lol😂 I went to the GS Mart to buy some groceries, off I went to the counter and make payment. I couldn't understand much from the cashier as he's trying to tell me there's promotion going on with the snacks I'm purchasing, the cashier got fedup seeing my Asian face and doesn't speak Korean. Hana, tuel, sem... I only understand 1,2,3.
However, the following western dude purchased the same snack that I do, he obviously doesn't speak Korean as well, but with a western face, he got extra treated with extra body language, showing the same price buying 3 paying for the price for 2.
How I wish I have blond hair and be taller to looks like a fake westerner to enjoy such benefit. Oh I also being approached by Korean tourists asking me how to get there. And when I show the universal sign language of 🤷 "I don't know I m from Malaysia", and my broken Hangul "Byaneh da marehsian shimnida" and the tourist gave me a face palm 🤦. Had I been born without Asian face, nobody will bother to ask me route when I travel in Asian region.
Oh trust me, I spent an extra 30 minutes staying in the GS Mart to introduce the good deal to any walk in foreigner whom speak English to buy the "buy 2 free 1" snacks. Lotte is going to love this kind of promoter eh 😂 Guess what sort of complement I got from those English speaking tourist? Dude! You don't sound like a Korean, but you sounded like Jacky Chan! 🤣
