And once again the summer has taken a real run-up and is heating us up. It's not like we've been freezing the last few weeks, but somehow we're getting it all this year.

At the beginning of the year we were snowed in here in record-breaking conditions, which really sent us into the winter wonderland. And now in the middle of the year, it has been frickin hot for many weeks, finally topping it today.

Through the window welcomes you a stream of air that you normally only know when you open the oven, and I'm already looking forward to going to work. My car's air conditioning has let me down this summer, that will be an experience as if you were travelling in the toaster oven.

But it's beautiful!

Everything is still lush green and bright blue. At least, when the timing is right. And as soon as the sun is fed up and starts to crumble down, almost every day there is a great spectacle up there in the sky. And I had the pleasure and the honour of enjoying it all with my eyes wide open. Somehow my senses were very different this year, so that even seeing the usual scenery suddenly electrified and fascinated me.

I have passed the Aganogawa river and the adjacent rice fields countless times, and it is always beautiful. Actually, I am really grateful to spend this time of my life in this corner of the world.

And I have also started leaving the beaten track from time to time. Which is not so difficult at all, it just needs the first step. Take another way to work or back home, and see what's behind this curve, which you always wanted to take, but you thought this little detour was too complicated.

This change really inspired and motivated me, and showed me that sometimes I don't even have to go that far to find what I'm looking for. Often some goodies are hidden somewhere in the vicinity. You just have to be willing to see.

As Grandma used to say: Augen auf beim Eierkauf! (Open your eyes when buying eggs!)

I don't know which one and whose granny it was, but it was a wise one for sure. And with this truism I'm ending for today and plunge outside, into a round of excessive sweating.

Und noch einmal hat der Sommer richtig Anlauf genommen und haut noch ne Schippe drauf. Es ist ja nicht so, dass wir die letzten Wochen gefröstel haben, aber irgendwie bekommen wir es dieses Jahr richtig ab.

Anfang des Jahres wurden wir hier rekordverdächtig eingeschneit, was uns wirklich eine weiße Pracht beschert hat. Und jetzt in der Mitte des Jahres, ist es seit vielen Wochen so richtig knackig heiß, mit der Krönung am heutigen Tag.

Durch das Fenster bläst ein Luftstrom, den man sonst nur kennt, wenn man den Backofen öffnet, und ich freue mich schon auf die bevorstehende Autofahrt. Meine Klimaanlage hat mich diesen Sommer im Stich gelassen, dass wird gleich ein Erlebnis, als würde man im laufenden Toaster reisen.

Aber schön ist es!

Noch ist alles satt grün und strahlend blau. Jedenfalls wenn man den richtigen Zeitpunkt abpasst. Und sobald die Sonne die Schnauze voll hat und anfängt sich zu verkrümeln, bietet sich uns fast jeden Tag ein klasse Schauspiel dort oben am Himmel. Und ich hatte das Vergnügen und die Ehre, diese alles mit offenen Augen zu genießen. Irgendwie waren meine Sinne dieses Jahr ganz anders eingestellt, so das mich selbst die gewohnten Anblicke plötzlich elektrisiert und fasziniert haben.

Am Aganogawa-Fluß und den angrenzenden Reisfeldern bin ich schon unzählige Male vorbei gekommen, und es ist doch immer wieder schön. Eigentlich bin ich wirklich dankbar, dieses Zeit meines Lebens in diesem Winkel der Erde zu verbringen.

Und ich habe mir zusätzlich angewöhnt, die ausgetreten und gewohnten Pfade öfters mal zu verlassen. Was gar nicht so schwer ist, der Anfang ist schnell gemacht. Einfach mal einen anderen Weg zur Arbeit oder nach Hause nehmen, und mal schauen, was sich hinter dieser Kurve verbirgt, welche man immer schon einmal nehme wollte, aber man diesen kleinen Umweg dann doch für zu umständlich gehalten hat.

Diese Abwechslung hat mich wahrlich inspiriert und motiviert, und mir gezeigt, dass ich manchmal gar nicht so weit weg muss, um zu finden, was ich suche. Oft liegt das Gute auch irgendwo in der Nähe verborgen. Man muss nur Willens sein, es auch sehen zu wollen.

Wie die Oma früher schon sagte: Augen auf beim Eierkauf!

Ich weiß jetzt nicht welche und wessen Oma das war, aber eine Oma war es mit Sicherheit. Und mit diesen Binsenweisheit mache ich für heute Schluß und stürze mich nach draußen, in eine Runde Schwitzen.
