Our quiet little corner of earth is about to change. We have a wind farm going in next door! We are not sure how this will impact us overall. Our biggest concerns are the noise that the turbines are going to put out and the mess that will occur all around us during construction. As it is now we can go days without seeing a soul. That will change for sure . My son and daughter in law were planning to build out there. Now they are not sure what to do. There is a lot of negative enviro impact that comes with giant wind turbines from there noise to the turbines knocking birds out of the air. Also reading that they tend to change the weather patterns . We have now gotten over the initial shock of the news and are trying to settle down and look at our options. On the map the shaded area is our land on the orange dots are 350 foot tall turbines.
Here is a few trips of our day out there yesterday.

We set up a feeder and dropped a big round in it, since the weather is about to get real cold . We are working trying to get our propane tank heater working before the real cold hits.

There is a shot of the black hills.
And finally a shot of the road going out.

I am sorry to hear about the wind farm. That is a bummer. Hopefully it will not effect you all very much. Or they will want to buy your land and you can make a ton of money;)

The initial News was a blow for sure. Hopefully we can turn it to a positive. It’s hard to tell how it will impact the livestock but there is a lot of info out there claiming the low level noise they produce has a negative impact.

Wind farms a blight.

You'll definitely have an uglier view with them there. Northern Ohio has them and they go as far as the eye can see and most times, there is more than one that isn't working. I'm sure the farmers are getting a nice check from them, but I'm glad I only have to see them on my way as I'm passing through the state and not a daily occurrence.

That is one of our concerns for sure. It is hard to imagine exactly how much they will impact the view till we get to see the actual placement on site as opposed to a map.
