Meanwhile Back at the Ranch: Early cold gets us scrambling
The cold front moving on the whole of North America gave us our first below zero night.
I went out to my backyard and broke the ice off of the tank and filled it up. The calves were pretty entertained playing in the ice.
Then my son and I went out to the Ranch. We first watered and broke ice out that way. We have no electricity out there yet so we are going to have to get creative to keep the ice under control. At least until we get some snow on the ground.
We are supposed to warm up for the next week so that will help. The cows were pretty happy we showed up.
Everybody was pretty happy to have a treat of hay too.
This is our White Charlet bull. He is a yearling. He loves to cuddle and take the feed cake from your hand.
The hay bales on the back of the truck must taste better than the ones we just threw out for them.
After feeding and watering the livestock we went over and tried to start the ol tractor. We put a squirt of oil in each cylinder and turned her over.
The plug wire on one side was not producing spark. But other than that we are thinking it’ll run!
Finally we went out to the south east corner and repaired fence. With a little luck we will be moving all the livestock into that pasture next weekend.
And here is a shot of Bear Butte
Thank you for following our little adventure!
I took all the pictures you see above.
Love all the pictures. That bull looks great!!!
Thanks! he is a character . Hoping to put him to work soon.
You are coming right along on getting things ready before the snow flies. That white bull reminds me of one my uncle had on his dairy farm. Cute.
Ya he is a fun one. A good tempered bull is a good thing.
