An Interactive Session With @heimindanger.. D Tube Creator

in #rainmakers7 years ago

The Rainmakers Interview series is here to bring to you the amazing Men and Women who are playing their part to make Steem and Steemit great, some represent Steemit in the outside world while others like witnesses play a huge part in the contiunity of this great platform.

Our guest for today is @heimindanger the brain behind the D Tube application, which has put a smile in the face of Steemit vloggers

Ladies and Gentlemen I give you @heimindanger

Ogochukwu: What is your name and where do you come from?

Heimindanger: My name is Adrien, I come from somewhere near the middle of France.

Ogochukwu: How did you learn about Steemit and why did you decide to join?

Heimindanger: I learnt about SteemIt one morning through browsing theguardian.com, I joined it because I believe the distribution of a coin to be very important for its success. What STEEM is doing in its aspect is fantastic, it rewards people, instead of big crypto holders.

Ogochukwu: If you were to give an interpretation on what Steemit is all about, What will you say?

Heimindanger: Steem is about connecting people. It’s a social network like no other, it’s the first one where you can’t ever delete your account. You’re in it forever.

Ogochukwu: Where you involved with cryptocurrencies before Steemit?

Heimindanger: Involved no, interested yes. Bitcoin

Ogochukwu: You are the brain behind the recently launced D Tube App what inspired you to create it?

Heimindanger: I was interested after hearing about it on SteemIt and the SteemQ project. I also use YouTube at least 8 hours a day for music, so that’s probably part of the inspiration 😃

Ogochukwu: What do you think is D-Tube's biggest strenght?

Heimindanger: The video format. It’s infinetely superior to anything else in terms of emotional connection. It is the best format, it’s also the biggest one in term of bandwidth.

Ogochukwu: How did the App building process go was it tougher than you expected?

Heimindanger: Not really. I had just no idea where I was going. Most of it is standard stuff apart from having to learn a bunch of stuff from trial and error for both IPFS and STEEM which have shitty documentation.

Ogochukwu: How has the user reviews been so far and what improvements will you like to see over time?

Heimindanger: Some uploads have not been working at times, because we only use one IPFS API node, and this server owned by @nannal is getting overloaded at times. I’m sure if we improve this model a bit we won’t have this problem anymore and most videos including younger ones should buffer fine even in decent quality like 720p.
For the app development, I’d rather not discuss it here, as I will in my personal blog do an article after each major improvement in the app, the next one is scheduled for soon.

Ogochukwu: What others Apps would you like to see on the Steem Blockchain?

Heimindanger: I would love to see a steemessenger app using the STEEM memo key! The encrypted messages shouldnt be hosted on the blockchain but rather on a private server. The messenger would then be embeded in other STEEM apps like steemit or Dtube.

Also a mobile wallet for STEEM? Would be good looking. How come we don’t have that already?

Ogochukwu: What are your thoughts on the current price of Steem?

Heimindanger: I don’t look at the price, it’s too chaotic to comprehend. Nobody understands the price. Those who say they do are just luckers pretending.

Ogochukwu: What do you think is Steem greatest threat and what improvements would you like to see on Steemit over time?

Heimindanger: STEEM greatest threat is obviously that there is gonna be a lot of chains doing the same thing. If the community splits because of some internal drama at some point, then we will all lose. At the moment, different types of content can get mixed on the blockchain, and everyone gets money from the same reward pool. I believe the community and community token features to be a solution to that problem.

Ogochukwu: What are the hopes you have for D-Tube in relation to Steemit and the Blockchain as a whole?

Heimindanger: I just hope nothing breaks in STEEM and Dtube viewers can enjoy ads-free videos while content creators get rewarded if the STEEM community feels they deserve rewards. I believe in STEEM and I believe it’s possible.

Ogochukwu: If you are allowed to own only one cryptocurrency, which will you choose and why?

Heimindanger: USDT because I don’t like variance too much

Ogochukwu: Who are the people who have inspired you here on Steemit?

Heimindanger: @fabien comes to mind, we were friendly before he launched busy.org so I learnt a bit from his experience
@steeminator3000 for bypassing my follower count (before the #dtube article) and pushing me to fight back.

Ogochukwu: What is your advice for Steemians who just joined the Platform?

Heimindanger: Don’t beg for ‘help’ or ‘upvote’ or ‘follow for follow’ in comments. It’s only gonna get you downvoted from me if I’m in a bad mood.

Nice one sir

Great, dtube could replace YouTube. But I really wish I could chat from steemit.com, rather than going somewhere else

One question that I wish you would have asked is...... how can we keep piracy and unfair attribution off of Dtube? I'm seeing a lot it out there.

Wow, great post mate! I hope applications such as D-Tube get added on steem and I hope steem continues to expand :)

Nice one my friend :)

Another interesting interview my friend! Dtube is really a nice tool for vloggers, i just hope everyone uses it appropriately though. We have recently seen some plagiarism going on there with some people sharing copyrighter hollywood movies, this can be bad i think.
Glad to discover the creator of this amazing tool!
Cheers
@progressivechef

Great inspiration. However, how will dtube fight against theft and plagiarism?

@heimindanger did a good work by showing the qualities of steem blockchain. Thanks for the interview, keep it up
