RAINDANCE FILM FESTIVAL 2017
From 20th September, that’s tomorrow, the Raindance Film Festival is about to begin! For 25 years, Raindance has brought Indie movies to the fore and been very successful at it. This year is no different, amazing independent movies and stories from around the world. RAINDANCE is now at the heart of the worldwide movie industry but completely independent.
Raindance Film Festival returns for its 25th year to showcase the best in independent shorts, features, documentaries, web series, music videos and VR experiences from the UK and internationally. They now have offices in Toronto and several cities around the world.
Amongst others, Raindance has hosted the UK premieres of Pulp Fiction, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, The Blair Witch Project, Dead Man’s Shoes, Memento, Love Exposure, Ghost World, Capturing the Friedmans, Down Terrace, I Origins and Old Boy.
Over the years, the festival has hosted such guests and filmmakers as Christopher Nolan, Shane Meadows, Ken Loach, Marky Ramone, Iggy Pop, Anton Corbijn, Quentin Tarantino, Faye Dunaway and Lou Reed. Over the last few years our international Jury has included Lemmy, Armando Iannucci, Jason Flemyng, Andrew Scott, Amy Hubbard, Alice Lowe, Tom Waits, Vicky McClure, Sheridan Smith and Martin Freeman.
Atsuko Hirayanagi, is the director of “Oh Lucy!” which tells the story of culture clashes in modern day is the opening film of the festival.
