3 reasons the Raiders will make the Super bowl

I believe the time is now for the Oakland Raiders and they will realize their destiny. Last year, "The Empire struck back," and unfortunately their Super bowl dream faded to black when Derek Carr was injured against the Colts. Now it is time to watch "Return of the Jedi" and we shall see the Raiders fulfill their destiny.

Here are my three reasons why the Oakland Raiders will make their return to the Super bowl.

1. The Raider offense

They were a juggernaut last season and scored over 30 points eight times last season. The threat of the offense being consistent at that level went up once Marshawn Lynch and Jared Cook signed with the team during the offseason. Another player with big play potential Cordarrelle Patterson was signed as well. A big issue for the Raider offense were  

dropped passes. They led the league in that category last season. If they want to sustain drives, they better fix that disease called the dropsies.

2. The Raider defense

This is the most important piece to the Raiders Superbowl puzzle. The defense, mainly the secondary, had communication issues and paid the price dearly.  They were obliterated in the air and also last in sacks, because the coverage failed to hold their ground. That forced Reggie and Jack to address that situation in the draft by grabbing Gareon Conley and Obi Melifonwu to make the secondary stronger.

I feel if the secondary improves in coverage, the defensive line can be seriously disruptive and accumulate a lot more sacks just because the secondary did their job. The Raider defense was among the worst in giving up explosive plays. The Raider defense must not give up those big plays, if they want to make key stops. The Raider defense has to improve in the above mentioned categories if the team wants to win their 4th Super bowl.

3.  The coaching staff

Reason I brought up the coaching staff, because some fans out there feel the Raider coaching staff are unable to guide this team and take them to the "promised land." It will be up to them to have this team ready by week 1 when the Raiders go in the road to face the Titans. 

They must be disciplined on both sides of the ball. Penalties have been an issue for the Raiders. You can say it is their achilles heel. They led the league in that statistic and broke the single game record last season against the Buccaneers. Penalties were a reason the Raiders offensive drives stalled too early and forced the defense to stay on the field longer. 

The Raiders can realize their destiny if they clean up the issues I mentioned. The team is ready and the loyal supporters of Raider Nation believe they can take the next step.
