NON RISPONDIAMO ALL'ODIO CON L'ODIO/WE DON'T ASK TO HATE WITH HATE (ITA-ENG)

Oggi voglio parlare di una polemica scoppiata una settimana fa, dicendovi cosa ne penso io. Mi sto riferendo alla nuova pubblicità della nota azienda d'abbigliamento svedese H&M.

All'interno dello spot c'è un bambino di colore che indossa una felpa con su scritto "La scimmia più bella della giungla". In pochi giorni l'immagine è diventata virale scatenando la protesta di migliaia di persone sui social, tra le quali spiccano VIP come il calciatore Kevin-Prince Boateng e il cestista Lebron James.

Successivamente H&M ha rimosso la foto incriminata, chiedendo scusa a chi si fosse sentito offeso. Basterà? Non lo so. L'unica cosa certa è che l'azienda ha subito un danno d'immagine enorme e con essa anche la Svezia,(paese d'origine di H&M), da sempre considerato esempio da seguire per la sua civiltà.
Ora vi dico la mia opinione sull'accaduto. Ovviamente il gesto è da condannare. Trovo squallida e senza senso anche la felpa, aldilà che la indossi un bambino di colore o meno. E' abbastanza triste vedere che ad oggi, dopo tante battaglie e persecuzioni e dopo tante persone che ci hanno rimesso addirittura la vita, si debbano verificare ancora casi del genere.

Nonostante ciò, sono sicuro che non sia stato fatto volontariamente. Fare polemica è giusto, ma nei limiti. Con questi argomenti delicati bisogna sempre trovare il giusto equilibrio. Non bisogna strumentalizzare e cavalcare l'onda degli haters rispondendo con lo stesso tipo di violenza ed arroganza. Così vinceranno loro e non riusciremo mai ad estirpare queste ideologie discriminatorie dalla nostra società.

Today I want to talk about a controversy that broke out a week ago, telling you what I think of it. I'm referring to the new advertising of the famous Swedish clothing company H&M.

Inside the spot there is a colored child wearing a sweatshirt with the words "The coolest monkey in the jungle". In a few days the image has become viral, triggering the protest of thousands of people on social networks, among which VIPs like the footballer Kevin-Prince Boateng and the basketball player Lebron James stand out.

Later H & M removed the offending photo, apologizing to those who felt offended. Will this be enough? I don't know. The only thing certain is that the company has suffered a huge damage to the image and with it also Sweden, (H&M country of origin), always considered an example to follow for its civilization.
Now I tell you my opinion on the incident. Obviously the gesture is to be condemned. I find the sweatshirt shabby and meaningless, beyond that you wear a child of color or less. It is quite sad to see that today, after many battles and persecutions and after so many people who have put our lives back on us, we still have to verify such cases.

Despite this, I'm sure it was not done voluntarily. Making controversy is right, but within limits. With these delicate topics, we must always find the right balance. You do not need to exploit and ride the wave of the haters responding with the same kind of violence and arrogance. So they'll win and we'll never be able to eradicate these discriminatory ideologies from our society.
