Can we stop with these false equivalencies?

A few weeks ago, two people (a father and daughter) were the innocent victims of a double homicide in South Carolina. The mayor of a nearby small town (Pawley's Island) had this to say:

"I am sickened by the senseless killings in Georgetown last night.

2 innocent people murdered. Not 2 thugs or people wanted on multiple warrants. 2 white people defenselessly gunned down by a black man. Tell me, where is the outrage? When and where will we begin rioting and burning down businesses in Georgetown. Answer is simple, it won't happen. Because we live in a civil society, and it won't change what happened. The victims' families and friends will mourn and undoubtedly feel anger and confusion. Can't imagine their pain. So why do we stand by and allow BLM to lawlessly destroy great American cities and threaten their citizens on a daily basis? Should they have a carte blanche license to pillage and destroy? Why? This has gone on too long. Rise up America. This BLM and Antifa movement must be treated like the terror organizations that they are."

You see, the (genuinely innocent) victims here weren't thugs... they were good, honest white folks. Absolutely any black person that commits a crime is representative of the Black Lives Matter movement, you see. They're all alike you know.... why, you can't hardly tell one from the other, see?

I do not understand how that attitude can persist so blatantly in America in the 21st century.

All sarcasm aside: the double-murder, the theft of these innocent lives is a heinous crime. I don't think there are many Americans who don't agree.

Sadly, and tragically... half of America does agree with this mayor of Pawley's Island.

For the record, the identity of the murderer is known, and he was arrested within an hour of the murders. He is in jail right now charged with multiple felonies, and will no doubt spend the rest of his life in prison (if he escapes the death penalty)

When will the families of Breonna Taylor, Elijiah McClain, John Crawford III, Sandy Gaurdiola, Tamir Rice, Daniel Shaver, Ryan Whitaker, and John Abel get that kind of justice?
