Arrhythmia

When you were young,
You knew it was a good thing when your heart skips a beat,
It usually happens when your 3rd grade crush is around,
Or you did a good job and won in a competition,
Or your parents made time and cared to buy you the thing you have been asking them.

As you grow a little older,
It becomes even more exciting,
It happens on your first date,
Your first kiss,
On your first night under the stars.

It is a different story when you are sick,
When your heart skips a beat and you are chronically ill,
It means you are screwed,
Perhaps a heart enlargement,
Palpitations, arrhythmia, bad stuff.

It tells you how near you are to the end,
It means an expensive coronary bypass,
It means last days,
It means make the most out of life.
Your mind may be strong but your heart is so tired.
