Doorway Through Time ~ Photo Friday

in #qurator5 years ago

Ancient Oceans deposited this layered sedimentation of red sand, hundreds of millions of years ago. Once solidified the formation of the Rocky Mountains lifted up this area called the Colorado Plateau. That was around 50 million years ago! Since then the erosive forces of nature have been at work. Creating the art of the Southwest!

Located in lower Antelope Canyon this natural arch was one of my favorite encounters and only on this one occasion did I find it glowing when I entered and passed through. It was wonderful and inspiring at the same time.

Amazing photo. This is like from fiction

Your right, but it's solid rock real and totaling amazing.

Wow really beautiful and amazing , the brightness and colorfulness of this amazing place is really awesome

It's everything you say and more. thanks for that!

In ancient times, people lived in such cave.

This is not a cave, it's a slot canyon which drains rainwater from a large area. Not habitable.

Amazing scenery my friend. Oh my God! 50 million years that means this area is from ancient world where people didn't live on earth. Thanks for the valuable information.

That's true, the last mass extinction was 65 million years ago which killed most life on earth. Thanks and your welcome!

That's very neat. I wonder about the acoustics in there, like what it would sound like if you played an instrument like a violin or something. I bet it would sound amazing. Really nice photo. Well done!

That's a great idea. I think you could get some interesting effects as the sound is bouncing off of irregular chambers with little absorption. Thank you!
