Michael Naima (1889-1988) - A Christian Lebanese thinker and poet who left behind works in Arabic, English, and Russian. He was a member of the Lebanese emigres literary society al-Rābiṭa al-Qalamiya [the New York Pen League]. He was a close friend of Gibran, and translated his classic The Prophet to Arabic. He is best known for his 1948 philosophical allegory The Book of Mirdad: The Strange Story of a Monastery Which Was Once Called the Ark.
