This is something interesting to answer because in these type of post we write an decorative answer usually, like my first motivation is not money and i am doing this because of passion for blogging and it gives happiness to me because i can communicate with new people. But, if you think from deeper aspect, then you will get an real answer means, it's practical thing that without money we can't process our day to day activities till you are living in an commercial world, i have used commercial world word because still there are places in the world where everything runs without money and they still continue the exchange system like (Barter System). And let me ask one thing, and this question is for me also, if there were no rewards on Steemit Platform then would you invest same efforts on the Platform, i will answer no, because that's practical, you are putting your true efforts and time because you are getting the rewards, for example, if YouTube Monetization will be disabled for forever then, in my opinion only limited people will create video content. So in my opinion both have equal importance means, enjoyment of work and strengthing an community and also monetary rewards and that's the truth in my opinion.
