I Built This Cottage With My Bare Hands Out of 100% Sustainable Resources! Earth, Trash and Love Create The BEST Buildings!

in quinneaker •  10 months ago

I have been dedicated to sustainable, honorable living for the benefit of the greater good for over a decade.

This involves all aspects of life. The fundamental aspects being food, water, and housing. If you have checked out any of my "Bounties of the Land Episodes" you would know that I am all about and very successful in cultivating and harvesting the bounties of the land!

I have done lots of sustainable building and the two most sustainable ways to build is either out of the natural abundantly available resources of the land or out of trash!

This building is made of both! Even the bed, sheets, mirrors, lamps and EVERYTHING are UP-Cycled!

I was able to design and make this for $0. Yes it took many man hours, blood, sweat and calories but that was also all sustainable!

There were no bought materials used and this building is actually negative carbon footprint realized! This is not just extraordinary but almost unprecedented!

Yet its not only possible, but quite easy! Not to mention so much more honorable and rewarding!

Enjoy these photos and if you ever want to come stay you can find this cottage for rent available for steem via SteemitBnB and also AirBnb!

I hope you begin to respect and support the sustainable revolution!

I wish you all the best. Full Steem Ahead to SteemFinity and Beyond!

I am now doing 50/50 payout posts simply because the SBD is so insanely high at the moment, but I will be converting it all to $teem and powering up of course!

I appreciate your support and am grateful to be here on Steemit. I welcome any feedback you have to offer as well as an upvote!

This is the nicest building on the land and for sure and its still 100% sustainable!
Maybe even more so when you factor in the fact that lots of trash was actually saved from the landfill to build it.

·

Agreed!

💖

·

Love you QiQi!!!

congrats, looks more than comfy enough.
only criticism it needs more light!
I'd love to have a go and build my own eco home but here in England getting planning permission is a nightmare, and if I don't they'll come to knock it down and fine me.

·

Yes, though less light is more natural and I am all about natural!
There are plenty of extra lights if thats what someone wants!

It's such a sweet little building!!! It's very peaceful to be inside a safe, sturdy structure made of Earth. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

·

Yes it feels nice to be in the earth~*~

And such a charming little place it is. There is nothing like sleeping in a natural home made from earth....and oh the birds singing in the morning...a huge bonus!

·

Yes its quite cozy and quiet in its own little nook. Love nature sounds!

What a sweet cottage! It has so much more character then kit houses, amazing it was all recycled. I am totally inspired by this post! Thank you for sharing your upcycled art house, I hope to come see it in person one day.

·

You and Brandon need to come visit the GOE ASAP!

There is SOOO much for you here.

Glad to inspire, its one of my prime functions. I am proud to inspire anything sustainable as it is of PRIME importance.

Blessings~*~

·
·

We do need to visit! We have been talking, I will let you know when we have an idea :)

·
·
·

Ok, spring is the nicest IMO though it may also be a time you need to be there for your garden. May is the nicest month here I think april is quite nice also.

Nice work! I've often fantasized about having a ram-earth home, and you and your community have built a lovely one here. Great to see this.

·

Yes rammed earth homes are awesome as is many forms of earthen building!

Your zero waste effort is amazing! Is really inspiring :)

·

Thank you!

That is my hope, to INSPIRE!

Nature provides everything important and without we we would not be. Humans need to start nurturing and caring for the land instead of raping you were.

·
·

I agree. We have been taking too much from the nature. Is time to preserve and give back!

·
·
·

May it be so~*~

Perfect example of how true living should be. It's a beautiful thing, your community. Your cottage holds more appeal than ten thousand McMansions and you have my utmost respect <3 I hope to see it one day!

·

Thank you!

Wow ! that is awesome @quinneaker ! Great job ! if im ever in the area I would to stay at your B&B ! it looks very cozy and welcoming !upped and resteemed👌👍✌💕

·

It is very comfortable and has a special feel to it. Hope to host you one day!

·
·

Awe thanks ! it looks so cozy !👍👍👍😴

·
·
·

Its very cozy and SO sustainable!

Are the walls pallets filled with straw then covered with earth? They look very straight and true compared to other earthen walls that were just stacked. It looks nice and cool in there.

·

Yes you are correct!

Pallet walls filled with cobb, it is most genius and functional!

·
·

Very smart! Pallets are everywhere so cost-effective too.

·
·
·

True!

Trash is the best resource in all urban environments!

That is pretty impressive. We also built our own home, with our own hands, but we had to buy material. It was an experience we will never forget!

·

Yes even if you have to buy materials, if you build it right it is worth it!

·
·

Yeah totally! Anymore it is so easy to get a loan and buy a house, but you really don't know the house. It would be cool if everyone could build the house they live in. Atleast once in their life.

·
·
·

Yes if you build it properly then it will be beautiful and functional for hundreds of years.
Instead of getting a loan for a piece of crap that is expensive to maintain and won't last.

yo man, how long did it take to build such a masterpiece? you are so creative lol. good work!

·

Thanks buddy!

It took about 2 weeks with all of us working about 5 hours a day!

·
·

You built the entire cottage in two weeks?

Do you offer building classes?

·
·
·

Yes two weeks is easy for me and my crew with something of this standard.

Yes I do classes as well as private consultations. I have saved many people thousands of $$ and lots of time doing the basic things.

·
·

How is it holding up in cold weather? or is where you live mostly warm? cheers man.

·
·
·

Its far warmer in cold weather than our "normal" house built in modern suburban ways.

No to mention infinitely more sustainable and FAR cheaper!

How absolutely beautiful and even more inspiring!!! Thank you for sharing and shining ✨

·

Happy to share that which I feel is of true importance~

Thank you for commenting~*~

Amazing work on that house I am very impressed. I've recently gotten into primitive technology and want to build a shack out of clay or something this summer.

Love your beach pose with the power up. I want to take one like that. Do you mind if I copy your pose? lol

·

hhahahahhaa

I am here to inspire brother!

Please embody the powerup mentality!

Be in touch and show me your power~*~

·
·

I will definitely show you! Thank you!

The proper term for this is "GREEN BUILDING". It offers a lot of benefits:

  • Reducing trash, pollution, and degradation of the environment.

  • Efficiently using energy, water and other resources.

  • Protecting occupant health and improving productivity.

The ideal green building would be a building project that would allow you to preserve most of the natural environment around the project site, while still being able to produce a building that is going to serve a purpose. The construction and operation will promote a healthy environment for all involved, and it will not disrupt the land, water, resources and energy in and around the building. This is the actual definition of a green building.

·

Its more natural than antique but yes its ancient technology proven over time an still relevant now!

What a great piece of work here. I have a house in Bulgaria and what you have created here takes me back to my visits there. Many of my neighbours have there buildings built like this but that is mainly because they are poor, these people have nothing but are rich beyond imagination in their hearts.
I love your little pad. Great work..
Please feel free to pop by mine. (i'm new on here) I have upvoted and resteemed your post.
I wish you all the best for you and yours in the future.

·

Sustainability os much more often a result of poverty than choice.

This is a sad truth of humanity. However I embody empowered abundant existence and consciously choose sustainable living!

It is great this being shared on steemit. Truely, things made with love are the best and we care more about things that are made with our hands. Appreciate how we are beggining to thinj.

Great Job!

As a woodworker for 30 years I would say you did a great job. I am now encouraged to go and find some rough lumber and give it a go. Thanks Man

·

Go for it and let me know how it goes!

antiqu farneture...

Outstanding. And knowing, as I do, the current tenant there, I find the whole story to be epic. Well done.

·

Yes it has housed many people and is currently giving the safest and most healing space to an old lady in need.
