Scanning Apps For Your Phone

I don’t know about you, but, for me it is very hard to nicely center a receipt in the viewfinder of my camera in order to take a picture and post it to QuickBooks. Luckily, there are apps to fix this!

CamScanner is such an app. You take a “scan” of your receipt … then the magic happens! CamScanner will automatically straighten the receipt. Next, it offers you a crop window with its best guess, then you can drag the outline to fine tune the image. Voila! A nice, crisp image of your receipt; ready to attach to your expense transaction.

Most of the apps will do much more:

  • Perform optical character recognition (OCR)
  • Scan to PDF directly
  • Batch scanning
  • Annotate your scans with notes and highlights.
