question on steemit and dtube

So I heard about Dtube and wanted to sign up, after looking into it I came to understand I need an account with Steemit to use Dtube. Ok, I now have Steemit and Dtube so my question is are they both linked? If I upload a video on Dtube will it also show on Steemit and the other way around? I'm starting to think that I would be fine just using Steemit to post my video's. Any comments or advice?
