Why are we "asking for a friend"?

in #question7 years ago (edited)

“Asking for a friend” when asking embarrassing or awkward questions, are we so shameful it must be asked under the guise of a helpful friend? RAISE your hand if you have ever asked just for yourself.

There is an understandable fear that if you let your guard down, you’ll get hurt somehow. Why suffer in silence and be embarrassed to ask your own pharmacist for a topic cream? WHY feeling resentful, overwhelmed, underappreciated or even frustrated?

Admitting that we need help is tough. It seems only weaklings do it. But I think that it goes even deeper than that. Is this because you have not accepted yourself yet?

Don’t assume others are mind readers, be bold in what you ask for, stop playing safe and courageously, ask for it.
Opposite to the “door-in-the-face” method there is always the “foot-in-the-door” one.
I would ask * for me *.
Is that even near possible?!??!?!?! Just asking for a friend...
