How Do I Get Started?

The first thing you need is a wallet to store your cryptocurrency in. The most secure type of wallet is called a hardware wallet. It can store all of your cryptocurrencies in one place and it's not connected to the internet, so it can't be hacked. A hardware wallet is basically just a plug-in device that you connect to your computer when you want to send or receive cryptocurrency. They're small enough to fit on your keychain and they cost around $100 - $200 dollars (USD). But they're worth it because they're the safest type of wallet available today.*

One of the most important things to understand about blockchains is that a blockchain is a network. A blockchain without a network is like a road without cars: it's just a bunch of empty space.

For example, Quarashi Network (which is pronounced "koo-rah-shee," by the way) is a blockchain that lives on top of Ethereum and has its own token, QSH. QSH tokens are generated and transferred using smart contracts. And smart contracts are pieces of code that live on the Ethereum blockchain and define how digital assets will move around.

Now, since a blockchain without a network is pretty much useless, there needs to be a way for people to connect to the Quarashi Network and use its smart contracts in real life. How can people do this? Well, one way would be to download all of the Quarashi Network's smart contracts onto their computers, which would take up about 188 GB of hard drive space! That might not be an option for your average user.

Another option would be to create some sort of virtual computer that represents the entire Quarashi Network (and all its smart contracts) inside another computer program. But that would also require you to download about 188 GB worth of data. Yikes!

To understand how blockchain works, you first need to understand the concept of "blocks." Simply put, block is a collection of data that contains information about transactions and the hash of the previous block. It's like a package or container of data that holds different kinds of information. Blocks are created by miners using cryptographic tools.

The blockchain is a public ledger where all confirmed transactions are included as so-called "blocks." Each block is linked to the preceding block in a chain — hence the name "blockchain." Every time a new transaction occurs it gets appended to a real-time growing list of records (or blocks) called blockchain. The blockchain is considered to be an immutable public ledger that records every transaction ever made. Every node in the network can access this public ledger at any time. This means that no centralized version of this information exists for any hacker to corrupt. Also, no government, bank, organization or individual can control or manipulate the system to change balances without the consensus from the rest of the network.**
