This is something I wrestled with for a long time and go back and forth on. Elon Musk, who I greatly admire, is convinced that we are living in a computer simulation. I believe he said it was a billions to one chance that we were NOT. Overwhelming odds he is placing there.

This brings up the question where do thoughts come from? When you think about it long enough, we do not know. This gets us to another level that all thoughts originate "out there". So what is out there? Is it God? A computer? Aliens?

There is no way of telling. It is amazing how we describe the world around us based upon what we know. 70-100 years ago, the comparisons were to a machine or engine...now it is computers (and AI). Who knows what it will be in the future.

Once again, we are back to man's search for meaning.
