Have you seen the new Rubik's cubes?

in #puzzle7 years ago

So you’ve all heard of the Rubik’s cube right? Well, there’s more than just that classic, unsolved Rubik’s cube sitting on your shelf right now. I'm a Rubiks cube enthusiast, and this is my collection.

If you don’t know what a Rubik’s cube is, it’s a 3D puzzle that you can mix up and solve. There are six sides on a normal Rubik’s cube, each side consisting of its own color. On a traditional cube, the colors are usually white on top, yellow on bottom, and then on the sides it goes red, blue, orange, and then green going from left to right.

There are a few different types of Rubik’s cubes, there are the normal three by three’s, the bigger and smaller sizes, the cubes that move differently, and the cubes that are differently shaped.

The normal three by three’s are just normal Rubik’s cubes from different places or brands.

On the left is a mini Rubiks cube, then a sticker-less Dayan Zhanchi, then a normal Rubik’s brand cube, and finally on the right is a cheapo dollar store cube.

The bigger and smaller sized cubes are just normal cubes, except rather than having a three tile by three tile face, they have either more or less tiles per side. For example, it could have five tiles by five tiles per face, or a two tile by two tile face.

On the left is a six by six, next is a four by four, and on the right is a two by two.

The cubes that move differently are cubes that are still cube shaped, but they have different patterns on their faces and they turn and solve uniquely from the other cubes.

On the left is a skewb, next is a flower rex cube, then the curvy copter, and on the right is the gear cube, also known as the caution cube.

Finally, the "cubes" that are differently shaped are just “cubes” that have a different three dimensional shape, like a pyramid, or a rectangular prism.
