A sad paradox

When you are actually sick and get to stay home from school...

Then you remember you're homeschooled.

Hey yall sorry I havent been that active on here for the past week or two. Just wanted to let yall know im kinda going through a "comedic block" or whatever you call it. Anyway basically I just havent really been able to think of funny stuff and have henceforth lost motivation to write stuff and think of stuff, which makes for a pretty vicious cycle of unfunnyness. If any of yall in the funny community have some advice on how you think of great hilarity, it would be much appreciated! Thanks yall!

Humor is both subjective and universal. You are homeschooled so you know what those words mean. Government school kids have stopped reading by now so let's get serious.

Pick a topic you are familiar with. Write down what you know about it... positives and negatives. Are there any puns in the language? Can you point out the weird in what people think is normal? Can you point out the universal in what people think is weird? Take advantage of prejudices and cliched thinking around the topic. Contrast and exaggerate. Make the exciting mundane. Make the mundane exciting. Tell vast lies and tell hard truths.

Dang. It really is a difficult thing to talk about. A lot of humor comes from experience. I am becoming an old goat. That helps.

I can't write much more now. I have already been in this restroom at work for 30 minutes and they'll come looking for me soon.....wait... I hear them now.... they are coming...they are here....

p.s. have fun with it or take a break. There is no point torturing yourself if it is a pain. I think the people here like you. When you come back, you'll find the support.

Thank you sir! Really appreciate this. Hopefully hanging out on here more can get me to that "old goat" stage faster ;-) thanks for the advice!

Try to relax. You are a funny guy. If you aren't trying too hard it will come (that's what she said).

One thing you could do is check out some other funny posts and think of the comment you want to write. Maybe that comment is good enough to be a post of its own? Plus once you start laughing, it might help clear your mind.

Thank you! Laughing and commenting does help, I need to do that more. Thanks!

Hey I just read this. What the fuck. I am raging. I will be round your house with a bat if I don't gets me some hoomor

:0)

You're cool man, I would relax and if it's not there don't post but don't get worried about it. As the good Han says even just get a bit of banter commenting and you will find you are naturally shaking your humour meat

Haha well i will do my best to avoid the bat ;-)
Yeah ive been trying to relax with it and just kind of let it flow. hopefully it will help! Appreciate the support, it means a ton.

I'm new to this so I don't really have any advice but just wanted to say that I've enjoyed the stuff you've been doing....have fun and don't stress out too much. I think stress blocks creativity.

Thanks! really appreciate it! Yeah ive been really busy with school and work lately and i think thats really contributing to the stress factor. Appreciate the feedback!

You're too young for writer's block. What I do is browse the internet for funny stuff, but don't settle on anything until it passed my "laugh out loud" test, all by myself, in my apartment alone, with my cat.........

When I get a solid laugh from something, the joke flows easily. I don't try to force anything, and only post once or twice a day, with @traf's posts between to interact with the crew. That keeps it fun for me. Therefore, the "hard work" is simply finding quality unique gifs or pics, and the rest flows. It makes it more about sourcing than pressure on creating for me.
