The cry of Puerto Rico...Greatest nation in the world cannot figure out the logistics for a small island

Tonight my heart goes out to the people of Puerto Rico as they grow in frustration awaiting what is suppose to be the most powerful nation on Earth to come to their rescue...

This is very personal to me, having to wait some 8 days for water and food from Hurricane Irma. Things can get critical real quick. The lawlessness and uncertainty of what the hell is happening. The constant fight of trying to locate water and food and secure a place to lay your head at night can really break you down. People would never understand until they find themselves in that situation, I can feel the frustration in her voice....

The people who have the means to help, reach out and help because every day that goes by with inaction could result in the death of someone awaiting help.

These are the words of San Juan Mayor " I cannot fathom the thought that the greatest nation in the world cannot figure out the logistics for a small island..."

While I now have access to food, water, electricity and the internet I cannot ignore the plight of the people of Puerto Rico and Dominica because I know not to long ago people were rallying help for St Maarten....

The people that can help, get on board, trust me, Government only come around during the election, its only during that time logistics seems very simple. I am very disappointed that situation on the ground has reach that level of desperation....The people within the USA, start making some calls, get on the social media, let your voices be heard.

Sort:

I also have family in Puerto Rico, They are sending, the US government , many ships of food and cargo to help and rebuild Puerto Rico, if you can, go to a support center that is sending them aid in your community.
This was a devastation to them, my heart goes out to them, we have to continue to support them as well as those in Texas and Florida hit by hurricanes, yes Puerto Rico is bad, help is there and more on the way, its going to take time, but everyone is there for them, I work with the fire dept. and sometimes you have to wait for the chance to go in and help, stand down, and then when its safe go in.... now that the storm is gone and the damage is done, help is again on the way, and more will continue to head that way.

Yep, not just Puerto Rico, most of the Caribbean picking up the pieces, I had my share of the pain and agony with Irma so I really hope its action and not sweet words because from what they mayor is saying, it look like sweet words...a country like the US, with so much helicopter and so much advances, I find it really difficult that they are struggling with this, that military recently got a 70 billion dollar upgrade, put that shit to work

The US military can send thousands of troops to fight war at a moment notice with billions of dollars worth or weapons, but when it comes to humanitarian missions for one of its "territories" it comes short. But I need to be clear that this problem isn't only a problem of the empire, it is one of the incompetent government officials on the island. Example, they set up a phone number for truck drivers to communicate, the phone number doesn't work. Truckers show up to offer their help only to get a we will call you, still waiting on the call. There is logistical problems that make one ask questions like why didn't the municipalities that have spent so much on emergency planning not even have satellite communications in place. Why don't the mayors that take home so much money have satellite phones. There should be no reason for lack of communication but this lack of communication is contributing so much chaos its appalling. My heart goes out to my island, friends and family on the island I have yet to hear from.

Everybody is in a state of shock after such a destructive storm, coordination and lack of communication adds to the agony and desperation on the ground...it took me over a week just to get message out from Hurricane Irma to let people know that I am ok, so I understand the frustration of the Mayor as I could imagine thousands of people looking for answers and she is helpless in the situation, especially when people are trying to find out about the love ones....I hope this strengthen relationship and they work together to deal with the debt crisis and build stronger...I also hope that the USA extends her hands to other islands as the implications of this hurricane season would be felt for a long time...

Upvoted and following u as always. Regards Nainaz

Loads of information. Thanks. Love it. @daudimitch Followed

have had an experience of this a year back in our country. it's really hard building up that until this day, the work in my house is not done yet. it's really horrible what the weather brings now a days.

Don't even know where to start, much less to get the necessary funding to get yourself off the ground...I understand the frustration
