Esta moeda foi emitida para comemorar o 250º aniversário de nascimento de John Marshall. Ele serviu como o 4° Chief Justice dos Estados Unidos entre 1801 e 1835 e estabeleceu a doutrina da Revisão Judicial, definindo que a Suprema Corte tem a autoridade de anular atos do Congresso, se excederem os poderes determinados pela Constituição.
Seu obverso mostra um retrato de John Marshall.
O reverso mostra a antiga sala da Suprema Corte no Capitólio.
