Paula Rego

Paula Rego is a Portuguese painter known for her paintings and prints based on storybooks. Her work often reflects feminism, colored by Portuguese folk themes going from abstract to figurative.
Since 70's lives in London and is the most internationally acclaimed Portuguese painter, being among the four largest living painters in England.
Among other Portuguese and international awards, in 2010 was made a Dame of the British Empire in the Queen's Birthday Honours.
In 2009 a museum dedicated to Paula Rego, the Casa das Histórias Paula Rego, was opened in Cascais, Lisboa, Portugal and several key exhibitions of her work have since been staged here: http://www.casadashistoriaspaularego.com/en/
