Passeios de Domingo - Espinhal | Sunday Walks - Espinhal Village

Espinhal é uma pequena vila a 15 minutos de onde moro. Havia festa no município e resolvemos passear por Espinhal primeiro. Fomos "pela mão" de uma amiga que tem de herança a casa dos avós e bisavós, uma casa tão antiga quanto a própria vila, senão muito mais antiga ainda! Das várias memórias, ela guarda os Natais lá passados, em que a casa servia de labirinto em jogos inventados pelo avó. 

Espinhal is a small village 15 minutes from where I live. There was a party at its municipality and we thought about going for a walk at Espinhal first. We went "by the hand" of a friend that has as heritage her grandparents' and great-grandparents' house. A house as old as the village itself, or even older! From all her memories, she keeps the several Christmas she spent there, when the house was transformed into a maze in games made by her grandfather.

It is dated from 21st october, 1946! It gave the post of Keeper of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to my friend's grandmother.]

Dos detalhes da casa, a minha câmara reteve estes três, o resto fica guardado na memória, sinal de que também temos que viver o momento através dos nossos próprios olhos e não por detrás de um smartphone ;) Apesar de adorar tirar fotografias, dentro da casa senti-me transportada para esses anos de 1900! Portanto, nada de fotos! Os tectos de madeira, os vários compartimentos ligados uns aos outros por pequenas portas, pequenas janelinhas no meio das paredes que nos fazem questionar o motivo e a sua função, escadas com degraus pequenos e íngremes, baús e candeeiros antiquíssimos, e até um "mostrador" de adoração com santos e postais religiosos de passeios a terras de devoção, como Fátima.

From all the house details, those three were taken with my camera, the rest I'm keeping in my memory, a sign that we also have to live the moment through our eyes and not through our smartphone camera ;) Despite the fact that I love taking photos, inside the house I felt sent back to those 1900! So, zero photos! The wood ceilings, the several rooms connected to each other through small doors, little windows right in the middle of the walls making us question its purpose, stairs with small and steep steps, really old chests and lamps, and even a religious screen with saints and religious cards from walks to devoting lands, like Fatima.

E o jardim público, que estava com uma exibição de animais em ferro, feitos por uma instituição de apoio a cidadãos com deficiência. | The public garden, that was helding an exhibition of iron animals, made by a local institution that supports handicaped citizens.

No final do passeio, fomos às Festas de São Miguel, em Penela :) Outro belo local, talvez fale um pouco mais na altura do Natal, em que a vila se torna na famosa Vila-Presépio de Penela!

At the end of the walk, we went to Saint Michael's Party, at Penela. Another beautiful place, that maybe I'll talk about during Christmas time, when the village turns itself into a famous Christmas Crib!
