Mental stability: what it is and how to develop it

in #psychology6 years ago

Felix Guillen and Sylvain Laborde in their study identified four levels of mental stability:

Hope: unshakable self-confidence and the fact that a person has all the abilities to achieve his goal ("I can find many different solutions in difficult situations").
Optimism: expect that everything will eventually be good ("In a situation of uncertainty, I usually expect better").
Persistence: consistency in achieving the goal; Do not give up when faced with difficulties ("I often continue to work hard when others give up").
Adaptability: the ability to adapt to problems in the environment ("I do not focus on things that I can not change").
To the level of your mental stability was high, you need to develop all four aspects. Interestingly, athletes gain almost twice as many points as non-athletes.

Researchers also found that psychological resistance increased with age: with practice and experience.

What distinguishes people with a high level of mental stability?
In order to understand this complex topic, it is necessary to find out what beliefs, outlook and thinking people develop in themselves with a high level of mental stability.

Beliefs

The decisions we take and the actions that are consistently committed are the direct result of the beliefs we have cultivated in ourselves for life. These beliefs either help move us forward or hamper progress.

What we believe in becomes personal truth. Often it is not real and does not correspond to reality. And this is exactly what makes belief systems so powerful. They can help overcome the most difficult life problems.
