Are we what our mind thinks?- Mental psychology

in #psychology6 years ago

Hello friends in this publication, I will talk about a very important topic, the psychology of thought is why this publication presents a very particular issue Without a doubt, this is a pretty suggestive title and that invites us to learn more about that relationship between the mind, the thoughts, what happens to us and the definition we have of ourselves.

In all this, our mind, through the cognitive material with which it works, has great power. Our thoughts can change the way we behave, the decisions we make and the feelings we experience. That is to say that they influence us a lot, more than we think.

"Our life is what our thoughts make of it"
-Marco Aurelio-

The mind: allied or enemy?

It all depends. Of what? What we think! It is common to say "I'm tired, I can not take it anymore" and immediately after having the urge to go to sleep three days in a row.

Do not forget that the body and the brain work to please you, and especially the first tends to do it in the short term. However, they can also become a kind of genius of the lamp that obeys without protesting the wishes of his master.

Unlike what we believe, it is not the mind that tells us what we have to do or how we should feel ... But just the opposite! We are responsible for how we feel. We can not blame the environment, the politicians, the economy or our boss ... everything resides within us.

Of course it is always much easier to find the responsible in the other or something alien. In this way we do not have the possibility to learn, change and improve.

Everything is in the mind

Marathons are one of the most demanding endurance tests of our physique, but also of our mind. In addition to requiring good physical preparation they also demand mental training.

Why? Because the moment the body can not do it anymore it is the brain that helps to keep going ... even though the pain is so great that there is no calming that can attenuate it.

Without having to become a marathoner to try this theory, think about the times when you were about to fall defeated by sleep, fatigue or routine and you said "I can continue", "I'm fine" or "I'll finish it". It is likely that at that moment you would get an extra energy to continue and then fall exhausted in bed.

Nor is it about being the most positive person in the world and going through life looking for the full half glass of each situation, but knowing that there are thoughts that help us and others that harm us.

Stop paying attention to the irrelevant and focus on what really matters. If things go a long way in your head, take the time to solve them and move on to the next task.

The mind also accepts the irrational

If you can not sleep because your mind is a whirlwind of ideas, keep a notebook on the bedside table and take advantage of that flood of creativity to solve some of your problems. Do not waste your energy on "ruminating" bad things. Better use your time and resources to find a solution to problems.

Remember that not everything has to be rational ... allow a little improvisation in your life! While there are things based on logic, there are others (many) that are more linked to emotions, sensations and intuitions.

Learn to live with uncertainty, even in a small dose. Make decisions that also require certain risks and consider mistakes as part of the rules of the game. Avoid self-pressure and accept that you are imperfect ... that will reduce your levels of fear and anxiety and as a consequence, your mistakes.

How to take advantage of thoughts?

An excellent exercise that can help you to dismiss your negative ideas is to laugh at your own occurrences. How absurd our thoughts can sometimes be! Seeing the fun part of what happens to you serves to release some tension and learn to look for the positive of the situation.

Do you usually have talks with yourself? Do you go down the street arguing with your mind or talk in front of the mirror as if there was someone else in the room? Do not get involved in the games that the brain prepares you ... they are a trap!

Surely the thoughts are negative, capricious and selfish and the only thing they seek is to make you feel sad, anguished, angry or vengeful. If you ignore those words and take the focus to another place, you can take control of your mind and avoid the inertia itself that governs you.

Having regained control over the most powerful tool you count on, you can give her the cognitive material that interests you so that she-along with your body-feels good.

Then an explanatory video where we define how the mind acts as a process of development, are we our minds?
