Breaking the downward spiral of fear and hatred

in #psychology8 years ago

Did you ever take the time and thought about why you have a certain opinion about things? I mean did you ever paused and tried to unwire your mindsets to truly understand why you don’t like that color, that person, that religion and so on.

The truth is that we are all products of the environment we grew up in. The way each of us is acting is a result of life long behavioural conditioning starting with our parents, than our friends and our society.

If you think about your childhood, do you remember your mother screaming Help! there is spider!.  You saw the fear in your mothers eyes and even though you couldn’t believe at first that this little spider in the kitchen can do any harm, the fear your mother showed you anytime she saw a spider made you fear the spider as well.

Do you remember you father saying These people will take our jobs away! when the news reported that thousands of war refugees had to leave their country, not because the want to but only to survive. You saw the rage of your father and even you just saw desperate people in need of help, eventually after many news session with your father “those” people became a threat for you as well.

So the fact is, wether we like it or not, many of our fears and worries are not actually our own but have been passed on to us by the society and environment we grew up in.

Unless you will take a moment to reflect and truly understand who you are, your conditioned habits and fears will dictate who you are for you.
