Biological Bases of Human Behavior -Psychology of Learning

in #psychology6 years ago (edited)

Hello friends, welcome, to a next installment on very interesting topics about science in this occasion I will speak today about the relationship that exists between biology and psychology, although we know human behavior is governed by some paramentros of the organism, well the Attitudes, our thoughts are also part of this, since our nervous system is connected with our entire body allowing each organ to be associated with a certain function, that is why psychology is very related to this science of biology, since that allows you to study the human body from the knowledge of your own body. Then I invite you all to observe an interesting publication, do not forget to leave your comment at the end and vote ..

Behavior is manifested through a body, generally, although mental behaviors seem to need only what we call mind. However, the mind is associated with the body that serves as a substrate, sustenance, support. In this way we have an entity formed by the body and the mind, an entity where we observe the behaviors that are the object of study of psychology.

Therefore, the title of the chapter affirms that the behavior has a biological basis, which is necessary to study to understand it in its entirety. Biological reactions have much to do with the elaborate behaviors that the individual presents.

While it is true that the behaviors we exhibit are largely due to learning in a social context, it is no less true that many of our behaviors are due to purely biological reasons. Our body, in order to stay alive, needs sustenance. Apart from that, the structure and functioning of the entire organic system will be strictly biological. So the sciences complement each other in the human being. And it is not possible to study psychology if we do not review biology and we even mention organic chemistry.

The whole body has to do with our behavior. If we have a headache, it is difficult for us to study, for example. If we rest, we surrender in our work. However, our object of study is focused on the system that governs, regulates and directs the organic and psychological processes. In this case I refer to the nervous system.

For this study we must know then that the nervous system controls a series of complex operations, both conscious and unconscious. The nervous system is the great mediator of all behavior.

The Nervous System is the great relation of the human being. It is composed of encephalous, spinal cord and nervous ramifications. This special composition allows you to relate organs that capture stimuli with others that effect adequate responses to these stimuli. The ones that seem so simple are quite complex and does it in microseconds, generally without equiviation.

We therefore have that the main functions of this system are the conduction of the nervous impulse and the relation of the different parts of the organism involved in the mechanism of a specific stimulus-response.

If we observe all the information that we usually process, we will realize that it is abundant. For each stimulus there is a specific response. Observe your surroundings. Feel the air, the cold, the heat, the noises, the clothes that you are wearing, your own feel, the movement of your eyes, the vision, everything is directed by the nervous system, which is also the great coordinator of the individual.

Basic nervous components

The Neuron

In the nervous system, all activity begins with cells specialized in the transmission or reception of nerve impulses. The reception of stimuli is the primordial function of special sensitive cells, the receptors. The conducting elements are cells called neurons. they can develop a slow and generalized activity or fast, highly efficient driving.

The specific response of the neuron is called the nerve impulse, this and its ability to be stimulated make this cell a unit of reception and emission capable of transferring information from one part of the body to another.

Structure of the Neuron

We have then that the basic functional unit of the nervous system is the neuron, of which there are more than one billion in our organism. And although they differ from each other as if they were individuals, their structure is fundamentally the same for all.

Operation of the neuron

The synapse is the connection between two neurons through the terminal plates of each of them. At the synapses there is no physical contact between the neurons, the communication is established through a neurotransmitter system.

The neurons exercise their function following a law of all or nothing. This establishes two absolute states, without intermediates: the one of operation, when the synapses take place, or the state of rest in which there is no activity. Such states tend to alternate.

Types of neurons:

A) . Sensory or afferent: take the information of the organs of the senses to the central nervous system.

B). Motor or efferent: transmit impulses from the central nervous system to muscles and glands.

C) . Interneurons or connectors: they integrate the activities of sensory and motor neurons.

The brain and the Brain

The encephalon is the portion of the nervous system of the vertebrates that is contained in the cranial box. Inside the brain stands out.

When the brain is talked about, it is often confused with the whole brain, however, it must be distinguished from the rest, that is, from the brain and brain stem, although it is intimately related to all other parts.

The human brain is composed of about one hundred billion neurons connected to one another. This makes possible the control of all mental functions. Its color is pinkish gray and its singular aspect, due to the multiple convolutions that it possesses, which considerably increase the surface of the cerebral cortex. In addition to the neurons, the brain contains support cells , blood vessels and secretory organs. Your responsibility is to be the center of control of movement, sleep, hunger, thirst and almost all vital activities necessary for human survival.

Structure of the brain

The brain can be divided into:

  • Prosencephalon or previous brain
  • Telencefalo: formed by the cerebral hemiferios.
  • Diencefalo: composed of the thalamus and the hypothalamus.

The hemispheres

The brain is composed mostly of two perfectly symmetrical hemispheres. Its large surface and its complex development explain the higher level of intelligence of man compared to other animals. A longitudinal crack divides them into right hemisphere and left hemisphere. Connecting these two hemispheres is the corpus callosum, which is a conglomeration of white nerve fibers that postinylate communications between both parties.

The cerebral hemispheres are divided by a series of fissures or divisions into five lobes. Four of the lobes are referred to as the bones of the skull that cover them: frontal, parietal, temporal, and occipital. The fifth lobe, the insula, is not visible from outside the brain.

Conclusion

As a final analysis of this interesting publication, we can see how there is a relationship between biology and psychology, starting from the behavior of certain body of our body we can see that part of the evolutionary development of each human being part of the attitude issued through of neuronal sensory, which act through the brain, the organism capable of generating thoughts in our mind, with this I want to make clear the role of psychology in all branches of science, especially biology, which interacts directly with the knowledge of all the parts of our human body.
