The Best Way to Change the World

"I want to change the world."

We've all had that thought at one time or another. We even have our own ideas on exactly what we would do to change the world because of course, every single one of us is smart enough to do so. At least we think we are.

But what can you and I, the average person, really do to make a change in the world? Realistically, we are not going to have an impact on world hunger. We are not going to be able to stop war, hatred, violence, racism, or any of the other major afflictions that are turning our world into chaos.

The question should not be what can we do to change the world. The question should be, how can I expect to change the world when I don't even have my own shit together? We all want to make sure a big impact outwardly that we do not look inwardly at the chaos that we ourselves are dealing with.

Our house might be a mess. Our relationship might be a disaster. We might not be as good a parent as we should be. Our professional life might not be what we think it should be. These are the problems that we should be working to fix before we try to tackle the much larger problems of the world.![cleaning-268126_1920.jpg]

Think about what the world would be like if everyone tried to be a little bit kinder to strangers. If we all cleaned the clutter from our houses making for a neat and tidy living environment. If we all tried to learn something new each day. If we created something for the world to enjoy. This is how you build a better world. By being better people ourselves first and foremost.

If you live on a street of dilapidated houses, including yours, and you fix up your property by painting the house, cleaning up the weeds in the garden, getting rid of the trash from out front, and cutting the grass, not only does your own property look better, but your street looks better by default.

It's ok to want to change the world. It's a noble sentiment to want the world in which we live to be a better place for everyone. But until we have our own house in order, we can't expect to have an impact on the world at large. So clean your room, cut your lawn, get your shit together. The world will be a better place for it.

Good advice. And when that is all done, enjoy it :)

I agree. Thank you for the comment. :)

Thanks for the exhortation to First Things First Scott. It is true.

The problem is, if we wait until we are perfect, we will lose sight of the mission to change the world, and we end up as a dead sea, self-centered.

Of course, we don't have to be perfect, and we don't have to wait till everything is perfect, we can do a little of both at the same time. If everybody did that, we would have a much better chance at really changing the world. :)

Yes..... fix "our tiny world" first then move to big world. Nice advice ! :)

Every one can play a part to change the world, we all can make a difference

Yes I agree! We put too much pressure on ourselves to try to figure it out while the world around us falls apart. Great advice.
