Sadly I'm not surprised. There is an obvious performance anxiety from these people; they want to please their audience.

I personally don't care that much how many people like my page (currently around 430). It's always pleasent to reach a wider audience, but I don't want to waste the money for it since I wouldn't get anything in return.
