Stop making plans 

Have you ever felt down and depressed, hesitant about that choice that you made some time ago about a job, a relationship, your major in the university? Did you feel like your life might not be moving in the right direction? So you constantly doubted yourself and your decisions in every aspect of your everyday life. It affected every living moment of your existence and you hated it, your confidence was stomped down, you were insecure as hell and your mind was trapped at the bottom of this deep, dark, gaping pit, from which, at that point, you couldn’t possibly imagine a way out.  Then, as if in a surge of light that came down to you from God almighty himself, you saw it. You felt it. Gosh, it hit you like the wakeup call that you’ve been for waiting all along. You suddenly knew that this is the only way it can go. You visualized this ambitious, but ‘believable’ scenario (which is usually more implausible than Quentin Tarantino’s scripts themselves) of how things are gonna work out perfectly fine for you. And let me guess – it supposedly included some of those plotlines:

1. starting this new thing ‘X’, which excites you and you are sure it’s your life’s calling
2. working your ass off in the next ‘Y’ months to become the best in ‘X’ and get ‘Z’
3. hitting the gym as often as you’ve always planned to, to get in that great shape you've always had in mind
4. and basically most of the things that you wish you were at the time, but weren’t 

Fast forward a few hours, days, weeks, months, years – The scenario turned out to be seriously flawed – not your fault though, it just wasn’t the ‘right’ thing for you to do and now you are reliving a similar existential crisis, wallowing in your own self-pity, waiting for that next surge of light, for that perfectly plausible future scenario which is the roadmap to your next life disappointment. Sounds grim, huh? 

Well, meet what scientists call – the human condition. I have no idea if scientists even researched this topic, ‘the human condition’ is just a term I’ve read somewhere, but it sounds believable, right? Just as any article named “The Top 7 Traits of Successful People” uses "scientific facts". The message that I want to pass along to you with this insight is best described by the Roman poet Horace in his work Odes – “Carpe Diem”. 

Seize the Day. 

Strive to be the person that you want to be, every day.
