Something I hate from steemit is this memo buying begging attention.
Wallets are not for that and if you find someone content great they should not need to send memos with a resume of the article

To answer your question: because it doesnt work that way. Once your feed consist of post created by few thousands accounts then it's very hard (impossible) to notice if someone you know published lately anything interesting. I know people would like to be "found" and sending memo with link is very little effort.
Sending memos is unfortunatelly THE ONLY efficient way of sending notifications about your work to your followers. There is no other way on Steemit and I'm not willing to use centralized platforms like discord/ twitter/ facebook etc to engage with others.
I will make a note that you hate memos and I will do my best not to ever bother you with one.
Who said what wallets are for? Isnt STEEM a decentralized blockchain ? Without central authorities?
Based on my experience majority of people do not mind memos and only very few actually do (you can even check my latest 2 posts related to this topic to see what people actually think). So if we would listen to majority then your opinion would be against it. And yet I still respect your view.

Can you read the posts created by 3000 people? No, you yourself accept that... so maybe you shouldn't be following all of them...
Follow 50 - 500 great authors, comment, engage in the comment section (it was meant for that)
If you are aiming at a follow for follow to show nice numbers for marketing... well maybe it is you who is trying to work the system
but do as you wish, anyway there is so much shit in this blockchain that nothing really matters anymore, the myspace effect was avoided by the introduction of fake smts and games...
This is not a blogging blockchain anymore because everyone is interested in ROI not in content...

Thank you for your kind and mature reply.
Perhaps you're right. I made that mistake of following many when I just started and there are no easy tools that would allow to unfollow 3k people.
Please keep in mind, that we all STARTED here at some point and we do silly things (like following many people) while we're learning :) I'm not very different from others regular people here. I made as many mistakes and following that many users is one of them.
I'm not the only one who made such a mistake. It repeated by majority users here. And we end up having huge newsfeed full of useless content.
Again, thank you for sharing your opinion. We may disagree but I respect your mature comments. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

If you go to your profile and click in the <Following> word you are taken to a list of the people you are following.
And well maybe check 10 blogs a day you migth be surprised to see how many of those people have not voted, or posted in 3 or more months.
How many have become spammers since you check them...
I check often who i am following and try to keep it at bay.
You actually gave me an idea for another of my useless / useful bots...
Regarding people don't minding memos that you mention, steempeak allow to filter out the 0.001 transactions... IF someone made a solution is because there is a problem.
