It is unfair to judge a person's intelligence by a definite standard. This is because people are smart in various skills and fields, a person might be skilled at music and bad at geography hence there are various professions for different people.. According to Howard Gardner, there are 9 types of intelligence, his models of intelligence will enable us discover our strengths and weakness and through that means we can work on our weaknesses. You can find the type of intelligence you posses and work on the ones you don't. You don't necessarily have to be an expert in all but if you want to lead a successful life, you need to have a bit of all, who knows you might need it for that big promotion or that big break in your career. In the world of success, you need to be versatile. Here are the types of intelligence:

Interpersonal Intelligence

This is the type of intelligence that enables one to relate with people with ease.. People who possess this intelligence are able to understand people, they can spot the type of person you are with a single encounter and they study people like books. They are often popular and because of their ability to relate with others at ease they often seen as diplomats and peacemakers. People with this intelligence make good teachers, social influences, politicians and lawyers.

Intrapersonal Intelligence

This is the ability to understand oneself in deeper level. Just as Interpersonal intelligence enables you to understand others, Intrapersonal allows you to understand yourself. People with this intelligence are usually introverts, they understand their emotions and pay every attention to their behavior and thoughts. Understanding themselves helps them understand others in their shoes and therefore they feel empathy towards others. They often make good writers, psychologists, criminologists, life coach and Musicians.

Musical Intelligence

Just as the name implies, people with this intelligence can tell when a note is off and when a sound isn't right. They are highly sensitive to sounds. They make good Singers, Songwriters, Dj, Sound Engineers, Voice Instructors etc..

Spatial Intelligence

If you really want to be creative in what you do, then you need Spatial Intelligence. This type of Intelligence enables one to see things clearly with their mind's eye. People with this Intelligence have a wild imagination, they can imagine different things in different dimensions, they imagine different ways to do different things and they leave no stone unturned.. Remember that anything you want to achieve starts from the mind. People with this Intelligence make great artists, photographers, sculptors, architects etc.

Logical Intelligence

This can also be known as Mathematical Intelligence. People who possess this intelligence are good with calculations, they can solve any mathematical problem without tearing apart. They see patterns that others can't see and they are often drawn to STEM fields and careers. They are more logical and rational than emotional. They make great scientists, accountants economists, statisticians, pharmacists, detective, etc..

Naturalist Intelligence

Some people just have love for nature.. They are able to create beautiful designed out of natural flowers. people with this type of Intelligence can spot a good plant or a bad one from afar.. They are good with animals and can relate well with them. They are often Farmers, Geologists, biologists and vet doctors.

Existential Intelligence

While every other person is concerned with their daily activities, people with Existential Intelligence are concerned with the deep things of life.. They find interest in subjects like what happens to the soul after death, ghosts and spirituality. etc.. They are pretty intense and they make good philosophers, yoga instructors, spiritual guide, author, nun etc.

Kinesthetic Intelligence

This is the ability to use all kinds of different physical abilities and multi task effectively. They are able to use their body to convey feelings and ideas and they are very goo with their hands. People with this intelligence make good dancers, artists, surgeons etc..

Linguistic Intelligence

This is the ability to use vocabularies effectively.. I stayed in another state for over 1 year and could learn their language but a person with this intelligence will learn a new language at ease.. Though they are good with words, they may not be good at public speaking unless they posses Interpersonal Intelligence as well. They may prefer to express themselves in writing than speaking. They are good with puzzles as well.. They make good Travel/Tourist guides, journalists, librarian. professor, historian newscaster etc.

How To Improve In Each Of The Intelligence

Think of each type of intelligence and find out which you want to improve or work on.. Start by doing what you love on each of them, that way you will have fun in the process..

Interpersonal: Start attending meetups of the topics/events that interests you, that you meet people and relate with them..

Intrapersonal: Start meditating.. It will enable you understand yourself better.

Existential: Follow a spiritual path and explore.. Read books on philosophy

Musical: Start attending shows, attend music lessons or you can buy an instrument and start learning how to play

Spatial: Try to redecorate your room, Try to paint or draw with time your creativity will improve..

Logical: Start watching mystery movies and try to solve the puzzle.. If you prefer sports then take statistics.. Play chess..

Kinesthetic: You can take Yoga or dance classes.. Or learn how to weave..

Naturalist: Start by taking a walk on the beach.. Get a pet or plant flowers..

Linguistic: Read your favorite books and write more often..

You can detect your strongest intelligence type and pursue a career towards that path.. You can improve in others because you might need them in a few years in your career..
