The Standford Experiment is another great one to demonstrate how authority warps people's behavior and perception of themselves.

Also, self-perceived authority developing into arrogance is an issue when rejecting new information, and facing themselves in the mirror about their improper behavior, they don't understand or want to look at. Like someone claiming they are an authority on what is valid knowledge simply because they have a "PhD", etc. Many pseudo-intellectuals are biased with this "entitlement" appeal to authority based on a title they received in academia.

Never underestimate the power of denial.

The Stanford Prison Experiment is indeed another great example, thanks for bringing it up. What's interesting here is that the experiment was also affected by his involvement in the experiment.
