What we do with our failures?

in #psychology8 years ago

Recently I rediscovered a great friend, successful advertising, reached the top of his career in 2015 when he was elected the director of creation number 1 in a recognized institution. This story of Perter I knew, what surprised me was when talking about his success, he told me that he got where he is because he has a significant history of failures, a series of misunderstandings, conflicts, errors and layoffs.

Automatically I began to reflect on how far our failures can lead us. In a world that has no room to talk about it, where many are happy on social networks, sharing achievements, selfies and successes. Failure is seen as purely negative avoided to the maximum and hidden in most cases.

But failures are good?

The failures, though unpleasant, are natural and can be very useful. Mistakes are part of the learning process, we are not born knowing everything. Even trying to hit often make mistakes and the main thing is not to make mistakes or not, because as the saying goes mistakes is human, but what we do with our mistakes. How do I deal with what came out totally the opposite of what I would like?

Have room to talk about it with naturalness and reflect on what went wrong, it can bring us excellent growth, but generally we are ashamed and seek to hide the failure to ourselves. The consequence is that, in addition to wasting a chance to intimate change, spend a lot of energy trying to avoid failure at all costs and also find it difficult to withstand the failure of the other. Accept that we are fallible makes us more human to us and to the world.

Failure does not mean give up?

It depends. Failure could mean the end of a path, but also the possibility of a new one. Everything is a matter of where you want to arrive and the energy used in it. When we talk about work, a profession that is our vocation, as the case of Peter, past mistakes show what is not good, which should be avoided and thus we get closer the way of success. The problem is when we view failure as the end of the line, and depreciate so. If we associate the failure to end, it is natural to not want to accept it, but if we understand that it is an important part of the success, the chance of a new, well-planned way arises and errors may be seen more naturally, used to enrich our lives and allow important achievements.

Well said @khairulalom. Failure enables us learn from our mistake and do more better as you keep on trying. Is simply a step we take to perfection

Totally agree!
