Learn about the causes and symptoms of schizophrenia

in #psychology6 years ago (edited)

Schizophrenia is like any mental disorder whose causes are still incomprehensible, but today we clarify a set of causes of schizophrenia that have been agreed upon. Research indicates that the exact causes of schizophrenia are unknown. Many diseases such as heart disease produce an interaction between genetic and behavioral factors and others. This may be the case for schizophrenia according to medical research, brain growth and many factors may lead to this disease.

The causes and symptoms of schizophrenia

Genetic factors :

Although schizophrenia is known to be transmitted as a result of inheritance of genes from parents, there are no genes associated with an increased risk of schizophrenia. For this reason, many medical researchers believe that a group of genes increases the risk of developing this condition in individuals. There is no conclusive evidence that genes are affected by schizophrenia and they are dependent on other risk factors.
A study of identical twins sharing the same genetic code found that one twin had schizophrenia and the other twin had a 50 percent chance of developing his schizophrenia, unlike the other twins.

Brain Growth:

The reports have noted that minor changes in the structure of the material frame of the brain can put people at risk of schizophrenia. However, these changes do not exist uniformly in people who suffer from this condition and can be present in people who have no of this disease symptoms.

In addition, the neurotransmitters responsible for carrying messages in the brain can participate. For this reason, it was suggested that effective drugs which alter neurotransmitters in the brain and treat schizophrenia. Especially that dopamine and serotonin are associated with the development of the situation and some research indicates that the imbalance between these neurotransmitters is the cause of schizophrenia.

Environmental factors:

Some cases develop schizophrenia due to a combination of genetic and physical factors. Stressful life events can be the most common triggers of schizophrenia. Events can vary greatly and may include sudden loss of employment, divorce, abuse, any stressful event that results in the trigger of a psychotic episode in the individual.
In addition, drug abuse is associated with an increased risk of schizophrenia, especially as there is a range of common medications. Environmental stimuli are associated with schizophrenia but it is not enough to cause schizophrenia alone. Many individuals experience similar turbulent events throughout their lives without the development of schizophrenia.

Complications in childhood:

People who suffer from autism may be at risk of developing schizophrenia. The balance test can relieve temporary symptoms of schizophrenia. It was also observed that individuals who had complications before and during childbirth were at greater risk for schizophrenia. These complications include early birth, low birth weight, choking during childbirth. In addition, exposure to viruses and infections in the womb or early childhood may have an effect.

Neurotransmitters

Neurons are chemicals that carry messages between brain cells. There is a link between neurotransmitters and schizophrenia because drugs that alter the levels of neurotransmitters in the brain are known to relieve some symptoms of schizophrenia. Research suggests that schizophrenia may be caused by changes in the levels of neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin. In the case of imbalances, this is the basis of the problem. . Others have found that a change in the body's sensitivity to neurotransmitters is part of schizophrenia.

Symptoms of schizophrenia:

Problems with schizophrenia involve a range of cognitive and behavioral disorders or emotions. Signs and symptoms of schizophrenia may vary but often involve delusions, hallucinations or unstructured speech and are reflected in impaired work capacity. Symptoms may include:

Illusions:

Illusions are false beliefs that are not based on reality. For example, when you are abused or incited, some gestures or comments are directed at you, you have exceptional ability or doubts that a major disaster is about to happen.

This usually involves seeing and hearing things that do not exist but for a person with schizophrenia they have full strength and the effect of normal experience. Hallucinations can affect any of the senses, but hallucinations with sounds you hear is the most common form.

Unorganized Thinking (Speech):

Unorganized thinking is derived from unstructured speech. Effective communication can be weak and answers on your tongue may not be relevant to logic answers. Speech may include a combination of words that are intelligible and can not be understood.

Unorganized behavior may appear by acting with childish absurdity. Unexpected behavior Behavior can include resistance to instruction, inappropriate posture, incomplete response, or excessive and ineffective movement.

This means being unable to work well. For example, a person may ignore personal cleaning or seem to lack feelings or lose interest in daily activities, social withdrawal or the ability to experience pleasure.

Symptoms can vary depending on the age of the condition. Over time, symptoms may be present forever.
In men, symptoms of schizophrenia usually begin to appear at the age of 20 and women usually begin in the late 20s. It is unusual for children to be diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Symptoms in teenagers:

The symptoms of schizophrenia in adolescents are no different from the adults, but may be it is difficult to identify them due to the early appearance of schizophrenia in adolescents and develop during the development of adolescence.

  • Low performance of the study.
  • Sleep problems.
  • Irritability or depression.
