I've had several shopping issues.
It's mostly groupthink driving trends "you just can't miss out on" or addiction. If you hit a point where buying satisfies an urge or need (addiction) then the only solution is to cut off and go cold turkey.
I've found myself buying things that I will never ever use. It's pretty scary. It's like consumerism is a demon who takes possession of your mind. Creepy.
Nice way of explaining it. The same can be said about every addiction, people really end up losing control of their actions. The worst is when they realize they don't have control. Must be very frustrating indeed.
