The body does remember. I grew up in an alcoholic family and there was a lot of physical and verbal abuse going on around me. I never felt safe despite the fact that I was rarely a direct victm of physical abuse. Later in life I developed Fibromyalgia, an overactive nervous system. It makes perfect sense.
