Yes! Encouragement and someone believing in us can do magic! I wish all parents would reassure their kids that "they can become whatever they want" when they grow up.

However there is also such a thing as a "polarity responder" who will succeed "against all odds" because they are motivated by a strong belief in themselves no matter if anyone else share their belief. They might not be the majority, though, and success simply is easier and more fun when you have at least one other person on your side.
