The battle of consciousness with the subconscious.
We all strive in our life to function with cristal clear consciousness. It is the light of our character. The positive elements of our personality that we cultivate from children to be right and loving people as society sets.
But what about our subconscious?
Do we accept our binary nature or ignore and sink the dark side of our subconscious?
We hold a responsible attitude towards these thoughts and we are mentally healthy or unable to see-deal them which is something common nowadays.
The Swiss psychiatrist C.G. Jung named our dark side "Shadow". The current multilevel expression "Fights with his demons" is this shadow that follows us throughout our lives, that we must not fight but realize and face it. Shadow is usually badly emotional remnants, injuries, impulses, humiliations, guilt and shame that we oppress or hide in a box (Pandora's box). Usually a mentally healthy person in stressful situations will be confronted with his shadow on his dreams with various stories of his own mind.
But how can we put a meter to these negative characteristics and to understand at what level are we?
University studies lead to the following three dark features Narcissism, Machiavellism and Psychopathy.
Narcissism. Intense need for constant external affirmation, attention of others and excessive self-confidence.
Machievellism. Diversity and manipulation of others to achieve personal goals and lack of feelings
Psychopathy. Totaly absence of emotions, emotional distancing and antisocial behavior.

At a very low level, we talk about normal people with fears and simple insecurities, but acting honestly and consciously. At high levels these three features or their combination make up a character that is capable of conquering everything without hesitation.
Studies have shown that as intelligent increases the percentages of those go up.
Another important finding of studies is as follows.
As more as we dont want in a person a characteristic, we are struggling with the corresponding characteristic of our character within our ego. To understand better the above ...
-I do not like this man at all. I hate him! (Extreme Reverberation)
-But why? What is it that you do not like?
-He is selfish!
The dark characteristic of the speaker that reflects through the man he blames is selfishness. That is, the speaker opposes the extreme with a selfish man because he has not accepted his own egoism.
Realizing what is happening in our subconscious we balance our mental health.

Sometimes i wonder....
Does the three dark sides have a connection with the mental illness of paranoid schizophrenia??
The American Nobel mathematician John Forbes Nash was stuggling with this illness many years. A beautiful mind, who made fundamental contributions to game theory, theories that used in economics and differential geometry, spent several years at psychiatric hospitals.
First he had an erratic behavior, then he start beliving that all men who wore red ties were part of a communist conspiracy against him. He fixed unrealistic beliefs that made doctors give him a cocteil of untipsychotic drugs.
I know that this specific mental disorder has a lot to do with the genes of the family tree but my opinion is that everything start from the three dark shadows.
