It is indeed very easy to control most people. Most "good" people are very trusting. Most "bad" people are extremely easy to spook. It is child's play to get either of these groups to jump.

It is also this very thing that makes a revolution at this moment in time a very fearful thing for me. Currently, we would just build the evil structure that controls us, back together just the way it was. We would not know any better.
