I think it's a little ambitious to say that greed is always good or always bad. In certain situations any emotion can be either good or bad. I would prefer to look at the outcomes of this "greed." If it increases high quality content being added to the system, then thumbs up from me. If it turns into people attempting to game the system for personal gain, then oh well, it probably would have happened anyway.
