RE: The influencers of Violence -Part One - Culture and Social Context
The point of 'loss of identity increases aggressive behavior' rings very true to me. There are hundreds of countries worldwide, each with unique cultural patterns and focus values. This alone might be enough for somebody from one country to feel absolutely lost and out of place in another. So basically, the more cultures we have the greater the mutual Separation. What adds on top of that is the fact that people are so conditioned that the large majority latches onto their birthname, job or money to create a sense of identification for themselves. Yet identifying oneself through these is all a mere facade and ephemeral. Taking into scope the current world economic situation as a whole, it's no wonder that aggression is the norm. Your point 'loss of self control' hence is just another repercussion and amplifier of this aggression.
All root causes you describe here match perfectly with the world current state of maximized violence.
Nice style as always, no need to butter up 😃
Thanks a lot for your precious comments. :)
Well, to be open to other cultures, we need at least to have lived in two different cultures, or have parents with different languages/culture and even if you can speak two or more languages.
When you lived in two different cultures, you lose your "roots" and you will never have it anymore.
But this makes you a person that will feel less stressed when contacting other cultures.
I found out this because one day one friend asked me what was the solution for a more peaceful world and after thinking for 2 years I got the answer.
If everybody born in this world could have a non-violent family and environment and the solution is to live more than 6 years in a different culture during his/her youth this will reduce in large scale the violence in the world.
People that lose their "roots" in this process, will be much more open to accept other cultures and avoid the conflictual shock of facing different values.
Yes, diving into other cultures has a profound effect on the expansion of one's Awareness. So many misunderstandings and aggression between different cultures are spread and seeded by word of mouth which people adopt without having had the practical experience. As you say 'losing one's roots', this is an important step to look beyond and through superficial values, and instead get a glimpse into a deeper bond which connects all of us. ;)
