MAPS (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies) Now Taking Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin as Donations!
MAPS - Multidisciplinary Assocation for Psychedelic Studies - one of the leading non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations studying psychedelics and advocating for the legalization and use in psychotherapy of such substances as MDMA, LSD, Ayahuasca, Psilocybin, Marijuana, and Ibogaine is now accepting Ethereum and Litecoin as tools for donation. MAPS has been accepting Bitcoin, the lead cryptocurrency since December 2013 and has already recieved $64, 800 in the cryptocurrency. This year, MAPS needs funding more than ever as they are posed to begin their US FDA approved phase 3 clinical trials for MDMA assisted psychotherapy for PTSD, anticipating prescription use MDMA for this by 2021. Considering MAPS receives no government funding and relies solely on the donations of believers of the cause and that the phase 3 clinical trials will require $25 million dollars, cryptocurrencies could fill this gap to achieve this milestone step in psychedelic legalization. MAPS has already a committed $12.5 million for this effort and is now looking to fund the other half.
That's great news! Unlike governments, MAPS understands drug users and knows how to appeal to them.
Not only does cryptocurrency philanthropy give the necessary transparency needed to run 501(c)(3)s free from corruption, but MAPS is giving the opportunity for cryptocurrency from just being an investment tool to an ideological token. I'm excited to live in a world where money is not only decentralized but aimed to give back to causes I believe in!
