I think it depends a lot of the individuals tolerance for THC and other cannabinoids. For a daily user the cannabis probably won't effect the psychedelic experience too much. For someone with a lower tolerance, marijuana alone can be a psychedelic experience.
That is a good point. Tolerance does matter greatly with cannabis. I have actually seen people have those types of intense experiences with cannabis alone.
