PS5 Launch Games: PS4 game upgrades and Game Boost explained
Whether you are waiting for the arrival of PS5 or deciding which next generation console is suitable for you, here are all the things you need to know about PS5 game release, backward compatibility, PS4 game upgrades, and ps5 game boost.
At present, there are a few released games and first party exclusive games on these two consoles, but some new games are already technically the previous generation. In fact, every PS4 game is backwards compatible - whether it's using physical disc copies or digital games - some games will receive free upgrades to meet next-generation standards, which we will also detail below.
This is inevitable - next-generation games on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X will be more expensive, especially in digital formats, and many new games will appear before the next-generation release window, looking great on new consoles through ps5 game boost, patches, or upgrades.
If you have not yet decided whether to choose the standard or digital version of the PS5, you can check our comparison guide here. PS5 users can also access the PS Plus Collection at publishing time.
PS5: First Party Exclusive
In addition to new games such as Assassin's Creed: Hall of the Spirit, Godfall, and Ghost Cry 5: Special Edition, Sony will also release its first first first party game on the day of PS5 release
Marvel Spider Man: Miles Morales
The Soul of the Demon
Sark Boy: Great Adventure
Destroy All Stars
Astro's Game Room
Bugsnax will also be available to PS5 users with active Plus subscriptions for a limited period of time.
PS5: Which PS4 games are backwards compatible?
As I mentioned earlier, it has been confirmed that PS5 will be backwards compatible with the vast majority of PS4 games, which means you can keep your favorite games. Whether you have a physical or digital version of the game, this is the case. Some games will receive upgrades to make them run better, such as "Wizard 3: Hunt".
Unfortunately, PS5 itself does not support PS1, PS2, or PS3 games. The remastered versions of these games on the PS Store are your closest to classic games, so you either need to dig out an old console or make do with some shiny new games.
PS5: Which PS4 games will be upgraded?
Some games will be upgraded for free or only require a small fee to perform better on PS5. Not all games can be used at release, but there are several games that will be upgraded in the coming months. You need to confirm again that you are playing the correct version of the game. Most notably, 'Call of Duty: Black Operation: Cold War' seems to have this issue, so please ensure that you access the correct version through the dashboard.
Go to the PS5 main screen, select the three dots next to the Play button or press the Options button, then select Game Version to select the PS5 version of the selected game to avoid playing games at lower quality. If you have a physical PS4 copy of one of the games, you need to continue playing it and access updates.
