This is a well known slang proverb in Turkish language. Generally used for things  offered by someone,but seems to have very low priority. 

To give examples:

Consider a meeting where few farmers are discussing alternatives to farm and make money. While conversation is generally around things like wheat,corn,barley ,one of the farmers comes up with an idea : "why dont we farm quinoa?" . Others look at him and say "so we f.cked all birds and missed only stork?" 

Another example could be about one of today's hottopics; cryptocurrency. Consider two businessmen who have tried many ways to make money and failed in all attempts. And consider that 3 years before they are sitting down and looking for new ways to make money. Then one of them makes a suggestion: "why dont we invest in bitcoin?" . And answer is there "so we f.cked all birds and missed only stork?"

Unfortunately in some cases (possible in both of the above examples) this proverb blocks new and innovative ideas. So maybe world is changing and in today's world stork has become more attractive.

I tried to find story of this proverb. Made a lot of research.But could not find by whom and under what conditions this proverb was first used.
