The crowds are growing

in #protests7 years ago (edited)

Last week Friday South Africa started protesting for a corrupt president to step down.

Today was his 75th birthday and so further follow up marches were planed.

This was the crowd on his lawn today...

Very different from the previous crowds which I covered here

The comeback to last weeks protest is that they were racist and middle class...

Well there is no hiding behind that excuse today.

Some are claiming 120 000 protesters showed up today and they are majority in red, which is the EFF whose main support base is extremely far from white and middle class...

Time for Zuma to go... Motion of no confidence is scheduled in parliament for next week.

Wow... and I thought the crowds were big before... The people have had enough and are rising up!

It recalled me our candlelight protest in South Korea. @gavvet

Missed this a couple days ago. Incredible outpouring of protest!

Finally a post about my homeland.

Then you should check out @rynow. I believe his from SA.

Wut? Me trollin?

A Steemit witness claims to have d0x'd me and given out my SA location.

Are you calling that Steemit witness a liar?

If that's the case, perhaps voters should consider not voting for Steemit witnesses who try to d0x others and/or lie. ;)

Hello my friend

But this revolution of the people for what?
It was a revolution in my country soon and things were getting worse

Not a revolution, just call for the president to step down due to corruption charges...

Dear friend ... When the president was stepped down with regret, the currency was devalued. The economy, security, and stability situation were fading. Unfortunately, the situation was so long ... I sincerely hope that a good man will lead the country ... Security and economic stability comes, but because that happens

It is so good to see the peoples of South Africa rise in an attempt to protect themselves and their country. As I was driving to work this morning, CBC Radio was giving us news about the change of financial minister and how it culminated in a much larger flow of protesters asking for the resignation of the president. The report suggested that the people of the entire so-called Rainbow Nation are present in this decree.

Thanks for the news, take good care and namaste :)

Wow! I hope that if Zuma needs to step down, that it's a peaceful transition. Change, even good change, can be tough on a country.

Did not even know this event is happening from where I am in Malaysia, where the current government has been in control since the formation of the country (61 years).

It's so inspiring to see the people exercising their real power to the government. I'd love to know more about this and be updated. Thank you so much for seeding light on what happened. Else the mainstream media would NEVER EVER cover this.

Shhhh I see white people (whispers)

Most stayed away this time because last Friday's one was dubbed racist... and it was the middle of the working week, otherwise it would have been even bigger.

FYI, in your title, "croud" should be "crowds". ;-)

I think many got caught in the title. :-)
Me too sometimes.
