Google Ads Credit Has Been Released - Here's What You Need to Know
Those of you with outstanding credit from Google Ads may have seen an update in your account this week, with your Google Ads credit balance showing zero. Rest assured that your credit is still there, but it may have been consolidated into your existing account balance. This new feature has changed the way we view our Google Ads accounts and balances – but what does it mean? What happens to my outstanding credit? How do I apply my Google Ads credit to my purchases? Let’s take a look at what the change means and how you can use your Google Ads Credit now more than ever!
The amount you'll receive
- If you had at least $100 of credit when it was suspended, then $100 should be waiting for you in the AdWords dashboard.
- If you had less than $100, or no credit when your ads were suspended, they will continue running as normal. Your billing cycle will pick up where it left off before your account was blocked, and any new balance that's accrued will be immediately available in the AdWords dashboard.
What should you do with your credits?
Now that you've got your credit, let's discuss how you should use it. Chances are, you'll want to target a different set of people or work on ads in a different way than before. To find the best ways to use your credit and leverage it as fully as possible, here are a few ideas:
- Turn the credit into remarketing by targeting people who have visited your site but not made a purchase.
How long will the credit last?
If you are a new Google Ads user and have less than $10,000 in AdWords spend in the last three months, this is an opportunity for you to spend with confidence. This credit will allow new customers and small businesses with less than $10,000 in monthly spend on Google Ads during the past three months time period to run an unlimited number of ads until it expires.
The AdWords system is changing
The Google AdWords system has announced that they are changing the criteria for credit from now until January 2020. These changes in the scoring system could have a big impact on your earnings and you need to take action now if you want the best chance of earning a top placement for your ads.
How much can I earn with this new feature?
You'll get credit for how much you spent on Google Ads up to one year ago, as long as your account was active when the billing cycle finished. For example, if you spent $10,000 in December and $20,000 in January, then we'll show a credit of $30,000 on February 1st. Keep in mind that this release is US-only right now, but we're working hard to get these funds back worldwide.
How do I get started?
The first step in getting started with Google Ads is signing up and confirming your email address. The next thing you need to do is find a payment method and enter it into the settings tab. One quick way of finding out how much credit has been released to you is by logging in and selecting the Account tab, then clicking on Your Account Info. All available account credits will be shown.
Remaining questions
Have you been waiting for your Google Ads credit? Keep checking your AdWords account. If you haven't received it yet, be patient and check back over the next week or so. You should see a charge for up to $150 in your account history sometime in the next week or two, depending on when Google processed the refund from the advertisers.
